This painting is an exploration of colour within the context of architecture. Despite most cathedrals being of a muted stoned colour, it is widely believed that they were in fact incredibly colourful when first built. Sadly only small traces of these colourful elements exist. This painting seeks to reimagine these beautiful buildings in their colourful state, using vibrant neon colours and opulent gold leaf. Not only is this a nod to the history of the building but also a reference to the illumination of the stained glass that can often be seen from within the building.
This painting sings with vibrant neon colours which can be enjoyed under natural light and seen entirely differently under a UV blacklight.
