Gloucester Cathedral Altar
Gloucester Cathedral is a masterpiece of medieval architecture, consisting of a uniquely beautiful fusion of Norman Romanesque and Perpendicular Gothic from the mid 14th century onwards. The most obviously Norman part is the nave, immediately apparent on entering the building with its round arches and thick columns. This stunning watercolour painting captures the high altar in all its ornate glory, set in front of the magnificent East Window - its vastness conveying a true sense of scale and space.
